The General Consensus on Self Publishing

Speculative fiction author Damien G. Walter discusses the wisdom of self publishing in his post To self publish or to not. He presents some well-considered thoughts about the consensus on self publishing and how it is changing.

According to Mr. Walter, the traditional general wisdom says, “Don’t,” but is likely to change to, “Do – but with great caution.”

“There has always been a role for self publishing, but as that role grows, the provisos that accompany self publishing will grow all the more important. Authors will need to be aware that self publishing means more than just having a book printed. It means being an editor, a distributor and a marketer of your own work.”

Walter’s balanced approach to the subject is definitely worth a read.
