Follow Friday: Back to School Edition

Many people, including every member of my immediate family, are preparing to return to school. If you’re not back already, perhaps you’re going this week. In honor of ‘back to school’ this Follow Friday presents three people we can learn a lot from.

Follow Friday is a Twitter meme which is spreading to blogs and other social networks. This is the sixth in a series of blog posts highlighting individuals and groups worth following on Twitter and elsewhere on the net.

Nancy Shortrun @advancedscience

Nancy Shortrun is an AL research scientist at the Institute for Advanced Science and Engineering. She claims that means she makes the coffee there, but her followers know better. Nancy shares some powerful insights and fascinating science through her twitter stream.

Michelle L Devon@MichelleLDevon

 “I am a writer! It’s not what I do; it’s who I am!”

Author, editor, blogger and speaker Michelle Devon is the perfect tweep to follow if you want to learn about the writing craft or the publishing industry. She’s quick to share what she knows with those who have a genuine interest.

The Accentuate Writers Forum is a good place to start learning from Michelle, and her blog — Freelancing & Fiction — is full of great information.

Natalie Wickham@nataliewickham

Homeschool (close to my heart) graduate and writer Natalie Wickham is a pianist, music teacher, publisher, grassroots activist and web designer. She also maintains the Music Matters Blog.

Her book, Pajama School – stories from the life of a homeschool graduate, is discounted %25 through the end of August in honor of NOT going back to school.

That’s it for this Follow Friday. I hope you’ll check out the Twitter feeds and/or websites of these fine people. There’ll be more to come next time.
